Attribution Settings

Ascend's suite of attribution technology provides advertisers using Dynamic Tracking the tools they need to incentivize publishers for driving the most valuable traffic possible. To access the attribution suite, navigate to Pay Attribution Settings.

Attribution rules are applied at the click level through the end of your lookback period, which is determined by the highest cookie duration from all your commission terms. Some attribution tools are applied to individual publishers, while others function at the program level. For more information on each attribution tool, see below:

Code Suppression - eliminates publisher commission on transaction where a suppressed code was applied. Code Suppression is meant to prevent promotion cannibalization, which occurs when codes not meant for use in the affiliate channel are applied, such as a “Friends & Family” code. A transaction fee still applies when code suppression is used. This feature requires the advertiser to have the COUPON parameter present in their tracking pixel.

Exclusive Code - guarantees a publisher commission when their exclusive code is applied to a transaction. This feature requires the advertiser to have the COUPON parameter present in their tracking pixel. Exclusive Codes are clickless; the publisher will still receive commission if their code is applied to an order, even if they are not present in the click stream.

Preferred Publisher - awards commission to the designated preferred publisher, provided they are present in the click stream. Only one publisher may be designated as preferred at any given time.

First Click - changes the traditional attribution model of last click, to first click. In-cart and First Click may not be enabled simultaneously.

In-Cart - is designed to reward the publisher who influenced a transaction by analyzing timing variables in the click stream to determine when a customer left their cart to find a coupon code. A lookback period can be configured to award commission to the last-click publisher X minutes prior to the conversion. In-cart and First Click may not be enabled simultaneously.


Click “Settings” next to an attribution tool to enable and configure the feature.
