Upgrading to Dynamic Tracking

Upgrading to Dynamic Tracking

Currently, Ascend utilizes Dynamic Tracking for all new program activations. While still supported for current advertisers, those using our legacy Basic and Itemized pixels are encouraged to upgrade to Dynamic Tracking. Dynamic Tracking gives advertises the ability to utilize Ascend's Dynamic Commissioning tools and attribution suite. To begin the upgrade process, contact your account strategist or Support. Note your current tracking type, Basic or Itemized, when requesting an upgrade.
The Dynamic Commissioning Technical Integration Guide can be found here. If your site is utilizing Shopify, Magento 1 or 2 (Community Edition), or Salesforce Commerce Cloud, please let your support team know.

Upgrading from Basic to Dynamic
A new Program ID is required when upgrading from Basic to Dynamic Tracking. Once the upgrade request is made, our support team will follow up with the new program ID and instructions for placing tracking. Do not remove your basic tracking pixel. Creatives will need to be moved to the new PID’s interface as well. This is a great opportunity to refresh your content.
During the tracking upgrade, advertisers will also need to place a new container tag. The container tag is used to mitigate the effects of Apple’s ITP updates to Safari browsers, as well as additional privacy enhancements that may be made to other browsers.
After the dynamic pixel is tested and verified, the account will be activated so publishers can be migrated to the new PID. Advertisers should communicate clearly and often to their publishers regarding the migration. Utilize the newsletter feature to send mass communications to your publishers and follow up with top performers by email. Following the migration process, the basic account will be deactivated. At this time, the basic tracking pixel can be removed. Note that reporting from the basic account will no longer be available; ensure all reporting is downloaded and saved prior to deactivation. Should reporting still be needed after deactivation, Partnerize's support team can assist with recovery.

Upgrading from Itemized to Dynamic
The itemized tracking pixel is similar to dynamic and does not require a new program ID or publisher migration. Following the placement and verification of the upgraded dynamic pixel, our Integration Team will update the tracking type within our system. The itemized tracking pixel should not be removed until instructed to do so.
