Tracking Integration

Ascend’s pixel is used to track order details for all affiliate-referred transactions made on your site. While our Launch & Integration Teams work with advertisers to ensure the tracking pixel is functioning correctly prior to program activation, occasional testing may be needed throughout the life of your affiliate program. To access the Tracking Integration section of your dashboard, navigate to Resources Tracking Integration.
Here, advertisers can locate integration documentation, their container tag, place a test transaction, and review test results.

Container Tag
In 2018, Apple released ITP 2.0, a consumer privacy feature that prevents cookie-based tracking for transactions that take place on mobile, tablet and desktop devices (iOS and OS X) in Safari browsers. A subsequent update was released in 2019, ITP 2.1, that restrict client-side first-party cookies to 7 days.
Pepperjam has released a solution for our advertisers that mitigates channel transaction loss in browsers that block cookies on vendor tracking domains and strongly recommends that brands on our platform implement our tracking code enhancement that adds click IDs to an advertisers’ pixel. Publishers will not receive commission on transactions that they refer if advertisers fail to implement our recommended tracking enhancement, negatively impacting existing relationships and negating the ability to create new partnerships. Publishers will continue to receive commission for transactions referred for advertisers that have completed the tracking updates.

The container tag integration guide can be found here, or on the Integration Documentation tab in the advertiser interface (Resources Tracking Integration).

Ascend is integrated with shopping carts such as Shopify. See the link below for details on all shopping cart integrations.

Test Tracking
Should an advertiser deploy updates to their website, we recommend placing a testing transaction to ensure the tracking pixel continues to function as intended. Note that changing ecommerce providers will generally require a new tracking pixel be placed.
To place a test transaction, click the blue “Publisher Test Link – CLICK HERE to Test Pixel!” button and follow the outlined steps. Make certain to include the sale amount, order ID, and the source code of your order confirmation page. Without this important data, our Integration Team cannot effectively review the submission.

Test Results
A history of all test transaction submissions can be found under the Test Results tab. Following the submission of a test transaction, our Integration Team will review and advise the advertiser of the results and any necessary updates that need to be made.
