Creating & Editing a Publisher Term
Creating a Publisher Term
To create a new commission term, navigate to Pay Commission Terms. The Commission Terms page will display all current active terms within the program. Click “Create New Term” to begin the setup process.
Enter a term name, a descriptive term name is recommended for ease of viewing when editing publisher terms. Next, enter the cookie duration. Thirty days is generally standard in affiliate marketing. Select the payout type, value, and level. Advertisers using dynamic tracking are encouraged to set percentage payouts at the item level, as it increases the quality of item level reporting. Click “Save Term” to complete the setup process.
If any dynamic commissioning rules will be applied to the term, click “Add New Rule”. Our dynamic commissioning webinar explains the benefits and available dynamic commissioning options available to advertisers. Dynamic commissioning best practices can be found here.
Editing a Publisher Term
Once a term has been created and publishers assigned, it cannot be edited directly. Alternatively, advertisers can clone the commission term so edits can be made. To edit a publisher term, navigate to Pay Commission Terms. Click the term name which needs to be edited and select “Clone Term”. Once cloned, the term can be edited. Term names must be unique. When editing the term, ensure the term name is updated accordingly.
Assigning or Changing a Publisher Term
Once a term has been created or edited, advertisers can apply the payout to publishers in their program at an individual level, or in bulk. Navigate to Publishers Manage Publishers to change a publisher’s payout.
Use the filters at the top of the page to locate the partner(s). The “Bulk Actions” box allows advertisers to change the term of all partners included in the search results. Use the “Select” dropdown to mark all partners for a term change or check the box next to the publisher’s name for inclusion in the update. Expand page results as needed to include additional partners.
- Select Change Term from the dropdown Bulk Actions menu.
- Select the new term for the selected publisher. Choose a date for the term to take effect. Note that publishers require at least seven days’ notice of an upcoming term change.
- Indicate early acceptance, if applicable. Early acceptance allows a partner to choose to move into the new term prior to the effective date.
- Click “Confirm”
To change a single publisher's term, select Change Term under the Action button at the far right.
Cancelling a Publisher’s Pending Term
If you would no longer like a pending term change to apply to a publisher, you are able to cancel that term change.
To cancel a single publisher's term change, select “Cancel Pending Term(s)” under the Action button at the far right.
Then, in the Pending section of the popup window, click “Cancel” on the term change(s) that you would like to no longer be applied.
